Charcoal mixed with wood!

Welcome back! It has been a long time since you posted. I did the mix of charcoal and wood once looking for the 'smoke ring'. Nothing. As for flavor, no difference. Everything was reduced to ash. But the test, I think is was a brisket, tasted the same as I always get with just hickory.
 
Thank you for the warm welcome back, and as far as my post goes, it never hurts to ask...... considering there are so many out there giving it a try, and not to mention that I see many brands doing blends ( pellets ) mixed with charcoal.
 
It never hurts to try something different. I used lump mesquite. It might be different with briquettes, and maybe the brand might make a difference. One never knows. Always worth a try and it really doesn't hurt the meat. Years ago, Tony / divot maker, debunked a lot of this. Good luck and again, welcome back.
