AUBER 1520h PID for Weber Smokey Mountain

Hi, as per title I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for PID settings on the 1520 when used in a WSM 18.5 inch with a 6.5cfm blower?

Thanks. Other than changing the cycle time from 2 seconds to 10-15s to avoid switching stress on the DC fan adapter I’m not really sure. I know there’s an autotune option but I’d imagine that needs to be done from cold and generally charcoal smokers are already at working temp by the time the PID starts working

Maybe by now you've figured out how to use the Auber 1520H with your WSM. It seems like a bit of a kluge to me, though. I think you might be better off with a PID temperature control system designed for use with charcoal smokers. I've been using the Flame Boss Model FB500 on my 18.5" WSM for several years with great success. The Flame Boss is a true PID controller and does a great job of holding temperature at the set point. This summer I finally got around to installing the permanent Flame Boss port into the bottom section of the WSM, which requires drilling a 1" hole -- that way I don't have to remove the Flame Boss adapter cover from an intake vent on the rare occasions I want to run the WSM without the Flame Boss. There are other charcoal smoker PID controllers out there, but I've only had experience with the Flame Boss.
