Why I am glad Steve talked me into a #4 instead of a #3

My budget was $500 and I was planning on getting the #3 at the show.  Steve made me an offer I could not refuse and I went home with a #4 instead.  In hindsight, I should have paid with 2 credit cards instead of 1 so that the wife would not be as angry.  (The cabelas card, I pay myself).  anyways, the reason I went to the Smokin-It was for smoking sausage and when I finally made some this week, I realized the flexibility you get when you have so much room to work with!  I have plenty of room for a secondary smoke generator without resorting to creating a mailbox mod as with my old MES40 or buying another thing to plug in like the smoke generator on the MES40.  Attached is a picture of my first sausage smoke with the #4.  The jerky dryer, in conjunction with the AMNPS and the giant interior of the #4 produced the perfect snack sticks for me.  Not to mention the total set it and forget it nature of the Auber.

He tossed in a free smokin it hat and a free auber pid unit to control the #4 that was worth over $200!  All at the show special price of $1400

The Auber is part of the $1,399.00 retail price. Basically you got a free hat, but I'm glad your happy with the deal. I thought you got some smoking deal closer to the $500 you had budgeted. I was all ready to sell my #3 and drive across Michigan with with my tax return.

He also threw in this hand made grill grate puller and pusher made by his father. I thought that was a nice touch.

The #4 is a real beauty. Those snack sticks look great and you will see just how versatile the extra real estate will provide.

thanks for the feedback guys!
One thing I found out is that the filter in the jerky fan does clog up.  I found this out the hard way in the last sausage smoke.  I just took the filter out totally and figure that I can just stick a new computer fan in when the old one craps out.  I just need to configure it for quick swapouts with the quick disconnects.  I suppose this has nothing to do with the #4 but it does have everything to do with the perfect snack sticks. :)
