Venting a smoker...

How far are you trying to vent? Short distance, it will vent on its own, long distance, jerky dryer fan or a computer fan inline in the vent stack.

Look for an old poster named  Three Sons BBQ.He installed a vent a hood in his garage. Very clean. The door will sometimes seep smoke as well, so that worked well for him.

Finally decided to try using the smoker in my garage venting into a prior wood stove vent. I was surprised how much draw the chimney has! I'm smoking some burnt ends and there's no smoke in the garage :-)
I'm pondering making a big hood vent which could also work for searing meat since our kitchen hood vent is uber lame.
