PID controller and cold smoke options in 2026?

I have an analog model 2 on the stand, and am looking at upgrades to get more/better use out of it.

There are times I wish I could eke out a few more degrees, to help with bark formation. Would a PID bypass modification help with that? Which one(s) are y’all using? How complicated is the install, and can it be stored separately from the smoker (my smoker is stored outdoors under a vinyl/nylon cover)? I guess you used to be able to buy an official SI upgrade kit (saw a YT video about it) but I don’t see that in the store.

Also, anybody using one of the the inexpensive third party cold smoke generators? I’ve had my eye on the Bella for a long time but the price has soared and so I’ve wondered about the <$100 units on Amazon. I typically use pellets to generate smoke. Sometimes chips though I could use the fire box for those of the generators have issues .

Visit Auber for controllers. Also you can do a search for controller by-pass. But if you want to store the PID separately, just plug the smoker into the controller and the controller into a wall outlet. It is not a by-pass in this configuration.
