Here is a rub I put together in order to reduce heartburn. As you can see no chili powder. My family really likes this rub. We have used this on chicken, fish, and beef when not smoking.
This is my pork-based rub.
1 cup dark brown sugar or demerara sugar
1/2 cup of Paprika (not smoked)
1.5T course black pepper
1.5T lemon pepper
1.5T kosher salt
1.5T garlic powder
1.5T onion powder
1.5T oregano
1 tsp cayenne pepper
I also add some dried orange peel right on the pork at the end. I am considering adding to the recipe. I like the demerara because it does not clump up like packed brown sugar.
