Storing outside

From the FAQ:

Q: Where do I store my smoker?

A: The smoker should be kept in a dry and well ventilated location. If you have purchased a cover use it to protect your smoker when not in use, as well as your cart. Always unplug the smoker when not in use. We do not recommend storing your smoker outside without a cover.

I would also add to check for rodents and spiders periodically.

My smoker lives on a covered porch, under its nice Smokin-It cover.  I haven't had any problems with this method.  I use mine way too often for spiders to build a house in it. ;D

Here's a link to my cover modification:

The stock cover is great, but it won't stay on the unit if there's any wind!  I picked mine up out of the yard for the last time, so I devised a way to keep it secured to my smoker.  Gotta work on getting this to be a factory standard!

I keep mine on the back deck - outside - with the cover on.  I have it close to the house so it is somewhat protected by the overhang from the roof.  I have had no problems with this arrangement.

Mine sits prominently outside my sliding door under a covered patio-like extension of my backyard. No problems except that somehow, someway there was a bit of moisture that got under the sticker and caused some rust. Really not sure how stainless can rust like that but it must be from just continued contact to it.
