Seems like just yesterday Steve was giving me advice on which one to get.  It?s been rolling since 2013.  Just added a PID.  I?ve cheated on her a few times, well more than a few - chasing that perfect smoke ring, but she continues to put out some great BBQ, over a decade later, with minimal effort and a wood chunk or two.

Nice!  Just did the bypass on mine today for more flexibility with the new PID.

March 2014 is when I got my #2. 11 great years with it, and 10 years wishing I had sprung for the #3 to fit ribs better

Looking to add a PID this year, more to help with using it as a long rest hotbox for brisket - temp swings are just too vast as-is. I really wish they offered a direct upgrade option for a more integrated solution.

Research the bypass. That way you can run off the factory controller and have the PID. It’s not as integrated. They used to offer a kit to convert. I opted for the external flexibility so I can use the PID on my #3 when I add that to the mix. The analog controllers due swing, but the average is close enough. Get some great brisket, just have to be creative shoving it in the #2.
