Seasoning question

The 3D arrived yesterday and has been unpacked and set up.

Two questions:

1. What is the (covered) female plug for on the back of the controller?
2. I watched a video (2 gutys and a cooler) on seasoning. It suggested wiping down the inside, applying a light oil to the inside and then seasoning at 325. Should I be doing this in combination with the provided wood?

If you have the pro model, it is simply an electrical outlet . I am not aware that the non-pro controllers have this feature. Give Steve a call. As for seasoning, I would follow the instructions that came with the smoker but 2 guys and cooler are reliable and have a ton of experience. You choice.

I have a non-pro model 3D (Series 4).

The first seasoning run just finished. I used the instructions that came with the smoker (no oil). After it cools, I'll run another. Looks like the back of the smoke box is the cool area as the chunk is almost the same size as when it started.
