Just received my #2

Hailing from Indianapolis.  I ordered my #2, 36 hours ago, and I'm already seasoning her!

Temps are swinging a little, but well within what I've read to expect, and seeing all the great Q coming from these machines, I have no worries.

I'm a pilot by trade, so smoking time is limited, but I may get some ribs in there tomorrow before I head out for the week!  I got in on the free cover, rib hooks and cord holder deal.

Impressive machine, built to last a lifetime, great service and a good forum... All for $446?  What a deal!

Divot, good one!  Sadly, our new aircraft no longer have no smoking signs.  They have been replaced by, no electronic devices signs.

Seasoning went well, love that sticky brown film inside!!

Sounds like those may be replaced soon, too!  I guess I dated myself again. :-[

Ivation, very highly rated.  Today was my first time using them, very happy.  300' range.

I believe it's a re-badged Maverick ET-732.  Looks identical, other than the markings.  If anybody knows different, please chime in.  Same temp max and range.  If it is a 732, it's a good unit!  Unfortunately, the Maverick is $4 cheaper on Amazon prime.  ???  Not knocking your choice, Capt, just pointing out the similarity for others who may be in the market.

True enough!  I could have saved a few bucks, I was too excited to get smoking, to shop around.

Sadly, our international bretheren do not participate in our new FAA electronic devices rule, so the signs will remain...

well Captain..... I am glad there is another Hoosier on board.
I am from New Castle, but originally from Greenwood. I also have a #2 - you will love it!

what part of Indy you live in?

FYI - my sis-in-law is a flight attendent for Delta. She has been doing it for 25 years....her new hub is Detroit.

West side, Avon suburbs.  I will have 4 days off during our 55F weather next week, so I'm planning to break in the smoker at that time!  Nothing better than the smell of hickory smoke in the air.  I used to have an old Brinkman R2D2 type electric smoker, it was a dumpster dive special!  It worked, but not well enough to justify taking up space for my motorcycles.  I can squeeze this one in!

Benjamin,

My intent wasn't the inadvertent pun.  Just an odd coincidence.  I was Captain on ships as large as 954' & a Ship Pilot for ships even larger.  I assumed (don't know why), Speedy was a Captain / Pilot on large aircraft.  Guess I would be the "Slow Captain", but I don't think I like that pun either!  Although, some may agrue it's accurate.

Well, we all must be pretty intelligent.  We have great taste in food, and equipment!

Maybe I will quit this profession and simply become a pit master?  There's always time.

That's what I did.  Retired a few gears ago.  New title Chief Yardboy & Personal Chef for my 2 girls.  Doesn't pay much but the benefits are  Great!
