Extension Cord ?

OK, I know it says in rules not to use one, but, and you saw the but coming, because the little guy only uses half the energy of the others (400w) why could you not use a heavy duty 25'
cord ?
Reason being I don't have an ideal location out of the weather. Anybody out there use one ?

There is no law prohibiting the use of one except that the essentially leak power (I don't know the specifics) and thus performance of whatever is plugged into one suffers. Maybe imperceptibly. Give it a shot and if it works, you good to go.  I used an extension o my CookShack for a year or so and then ran a new outlet just for the smoker. I really never noticed any difference before or after.

I use a line voltage meter to check how much drop there is on an extension cord. (Especially useful when checking power supply for generator and campground shore power).
The  $9 DROK 90538 Flat Plug AC 80-300V Voltage Panel from Amazon is the one I use. 
With it in a 3 way tap, I could see that the 25 ft 12 gauge extension cord kept the voltage about 116v (from 118-120v) when using my SI#3.

I used one for a full smoke without issue.  I've since relocated my #1 closer to an outlet, but again, no problems when I used the cord.

  You should at least use a 12 gauge extension cord.
