caster bolt thread size

Wanting to use 4 bolts with rubber heads (instead of casters) to lift my #3 a bit from my table. Brought a caster to Home Depot but a 1/2 inch stainless nut seemed a bit too tight. Figured a 1/2 inch (diameter)stainless bolt would work, perhaps would be a bit loose. However, back home the bolt seats a short distance then gets too tight to finger thread into the legs. Are these standard threads? What size? Thanks in advance.

A good hardware store like ACE or TrueValue should have a pitch gauge on hand to measure the thread as well as the diameter for SAE and Metric.  Not sure about the big box stores.

Good advice. Found the size for anyone looking in the future: M12-1.75 threads. Wasn't expecting metric but makers were likely limited by available casters. All set now with bolts sitting in rubber footers. Thanks.

Since Cookshacks are the only ones I hear specifically "made in America", I was expecting a metric answer.
