2D Digital Wifi Problem

I bought a 2D Digital Wifi at the end of the year and used it one time. I had a heck of time connecting it to my wifi. It's out in my barn in the backyard, so I can understand the difficulty encountered. I smoked up a a really great 20lb batch of venison summer sausage. I was very pleased how it turned out, and being able to do that amount in 8.5 hrs was a real bonus. I used the bella attachment; that device really kicks out the smoke.

Since then I've had difficulty again connecting to my network. With the cold temps I've given up trying to get this going for the time being.

Question I have, do I need to have my wife connected to get this work? Can't I just program this from the device without wifi? I couldn't get it going again. I've even tried Single-Step Mode per the instructions, and couldn't get it going. What am I doing wrong?

I graduated from a Bradley that I controlled from a Auber Instrument controller, so I'm very familiar with how this is supposed to work.

"Question I have, do I need to have my wife connected to get this work?"

Maybe. That is up to her!

Seriously, no, you do not have to have the wifi connected. You can do all settings at the controller. The link below has some additional information that may be of help. My advice would be to make sure it is OFF and just set manually and see how it goes. I am glad that your first smoke went well. If you continue to have a problem, contact Steve.

My wife isn't connected, and neither can my wifi! Thanks for the catch. I will check out the link that you sent. I appreciate the feedback.

Another problem I had, that I ran into again last week when I tried to use the smoker a second time.

When I did my summer sausage smoke last month, I set up the PID as follows:
130 2hrs
140 2hrs
150 2hrs
160 2hrs
180 until IT 152
155 30 min

As soon as I started this, it would beep, msg said STEP 1 Completed, and went right to step 2.

If this past weekend when I attempted to get it working, the exact same thing happened. It auto started
the last profile I sent (no biggie), but got the beep and STEP 1 Completed. I don't understand this. The smoker was
just turned on. If I turned it off and back on, it did it again.

I truly wish I could be of help. Maybe someone with sausage making experience will chime in an also one who smokes in steps. I only smoke to internal temp or time. Ribs are time, butts, brisket and the occasional double smoked hame to temp. Pretty simple. That is really all I smoke. If you continue to have a set up problem, get with Steve and he should be able to walk you through it. As far as the beep, is it possible you did not hold the button down the required amount of time for it to set?

I owe you folks an update.

First off, I needed a wifi extender as the smoker is out in my barn a hundred or so feet away. It now connects as you would expect it
to - consistently every time.

With the wifi now working and I could get the app connected, I made a video of the issue and took a screenshot of the cooking profile
used and sent them over to Steve. Before he responded, I discovered that I had a finger check in step 1 of the profile. Instead of using
Time as my parameter for step 1, I used the temp of the probe that was set to 0. So as soon as the smoker was turned on, it went to last
profile used, and blew through step 1 in a second. I didn't know that the Alarm Status/Smoke Indicator Generator would beep and flash at
the end of every step if you use the profile. This added to my confusion. Also, trying to get into single step mode, I was always already in
Step 2 due to the mistake above. More confusion.

I got lucky back in Jan when I made my 20lb venison summer sausage, with getting the unit connecting to wifi and Step 1 not being that
important in the overall scheme of making that batch.

Thanks for looking in and trying to help out.
