    Probe 3 question

I am in touch with Steve. I did a factory reset of my smoker and ran a couple of tests with the full wattage and OEM PIDs without issue. It held a 225 preset dead on.

Question for those running the element at 80%

For those of you who have reduced the element wattage, did you run an Autotune after that or adjust you PID settings? If you did, would you share your modified PID settings?

    Probe 3 question

Well, not really figured out. My smoker certainly does not adhere to the temperature set points which seem to be pretty critical to prevent the wood from cathcing fire and producing food with a bitter taste (my first experience).

    Probe 3 question

Funny, the manual had my answer. Sorry about that! I'm doing another test right now. Outside temp -74, dry. Heater element set at 80% Set point 1 - 175 for 30 minutes Set point 2 - 200 for 20 minutes Set point 3 - 225 (no time limit) No food in the smoker. I added one layer of chips and 2...

    Probe 3 question

I have a probe plugged into P2 to monitor foods temps. I do not have a probe plugged into P3. Step 2 of my program calls for an increased smoker temp of 225 until my food temp reaches a certain level whereupon the program ends. During my last 2 cooks (pork loin and haddock fillets), the temp...

    Greetings from NE Florida

We're in NE Florida. Smoker progression - 30" Masterbuilt, Camp Chef Smoke Vault (my favorite but just could not hold a steady temp), Recteq Bull RT-700 (rock solid easy/dependable but flavor profile just not there especially on longer cooks) and now a 3D. In hindsight, I should have sprung for...

Anyone applied a clear coat / Everbrite?

Stainless steel cleaning wipes also work great

    Seasoning question

Thanks for the reply. I have a non-pro model 3D (Series 4). The first seasoning run just finished. I used the instructions that came with the smoker (no oil). After it cools, I'll run another. Looks like the back of the smoke box is the cool area as the chunk is almost the same size as when it...

    Seasoning question

The 3D arrived yesterday and has been unpacked and set up. Two questions: What is the (covered) female plug for on the back of the controller? I watched a video (2 gutys and a cooler) on seasoning. It suggested wiping down the inside, applying a light oil to the inside and then seasoning at...
