Home Smoked Bacon & Eggs Breakfast with the Model 2!

Hi Guys, I finally got the video I took out in the desert edited!  I used my Model 2 in the desert kitchen to smoke about 10 pounds of pork belly and then made a classic breakfast of bacon, eggs and potatoes the next day.  Best bacon I ever had! Here's the video: https://youtu.be/Clen70I_lEo Cam

    Desert Kitchen Set-up with #2

Hi Guys, It's been a while....  I thought you might like my outdoor kitchen set-up that I used all weekend out at the desert house.  We smoked up the best bacon I ever had, used the skin from the pork bellies to make chicharrones, made tomatillo/chicharron guisado (a wonderful Mexican stew) on...

A Mexican Family Fiesta in Baja - Lamb Barbacoa

Hey guys! It's been a long time since my last post here but I couldn't help thinking about you folks when I witnessed a Mexican family prepare a holiday meal of Lamb Barbacoa! Over the holidays, my buddies Kris and Brian and son, John went to San Quintin in Baja for five days. Awesome trip! We...

    I'm Baaaack! (for back ribs)

Hi guys! I've been very busy lately so I haven't been able to smoke for months!  I shipped out seven Mojoes last weekend - a new record! Anyway, it is my son's 23 birthday today and when I asked him what he wanted for dinner, he said he wanted smoked ribs, both beef and pork.  We're having a...

    Mountain Smoke

I spent the weekend with my two buddies on North Peak in the mountains east of San Diego.  There's not much there except for a building pad, a Scamper and oh yes, electricity!  I decided to take my #2 and three racks of SL style ribs with me on the three hour drive to this amazing view spot. ...

    Ribs on the Mountain

I'm heading to the mountains east of San Diego early in the morning tomorrow.  My SI2 is already in the truck and three racks of St. Louis style ribs are in the fridge all rubbed up.  I'm going to a friend's property near the top of North Peak which is near Julian and Cuyamaca State Park.  He's...

    Smoking Salmon on My #2

I think that I need to change the subject and talk about smoking for a little while.  The main reason that I bought my #2 was because a long-time friend was smoking his Sierra caught trout at the end of each summer.  It was really good and all he was using was a cheap "Little Chief" smoker. ...

New Mojoe Griddle- I Need Unbiased Product Review

Hey Guys: I have a favor to ask.  I have been an outdoor cook (mostly backyard & overland camping) for most of my life.  (I just got into smoking over the last year with my Model #2.)  Over the last five years, I have been tinkering with and designing a new portable outdoor cooking griddle...

Philosophical Question: Do you guys clean your racks?

Do you guys clean your racks after every use or do you let them "season" like the rest of the interior?  I've done both ways and don't seem to notice the difference.  Even if I go from a salmon smoke to a pork smoke without cleaning the racks, there was no fish taste in the pork after smoking. ...

Up in smoke and loving it!

Hello All; Divot Maker suggested I introduce myself while I watch smoke tendrils waft from my Model 2 in the back yard.  Although I have had my smoker for about a year and a half, this is my first Boston Butt.  I'm doing it without a thermometer but after spending this morning on the forum, I...

Carrying Handles for my Model 2

Hello Everyone.  I just put a pork butt in my Model 2 and it made me think about joining up on this forum.  You folks have it goin' on! So here's my first question:  Have any of you installed carrying handles on your smokers?  I live in the LA area and frequently go out to my friend's house in...
