I had a chat with the folks at Chef's Choice regarding lubing the gears on my slicer.  The manual said to use vaseline and I was curious as to which grade.  The rep said it did not matter and then volunteered the info to use Petrol Gel which is what is used when the slicers are manufactured.  Ordered some from Amazon.

"There are different grades of Vaseline?"
YUP!  The reason I was asking was the slicer gears were coated in a white grease and regular vaseline is not white.  Here you go:

I would think Food Grade White Lithium would be more appropriate.
