Fresh Cherry

My neighbor, the tree guy, comes through again.  Walking the dog around the block and see a giant pile of fresh cut cherry limbs at the neighbor's house.  A knock on the door got me this.

That is enough wood to last you a decade!!!

Ironically a man at work cut down an apple and cherry tree.

He filled the back of his trunk... Filled it with wood... In a nice old man's Cadillac (said with all due respect).

I didn't have the heart to tell him there is NO WAY I needed that much so I took it all.

Good news I still have it all sitting in my shed... Bad news no other guys smoke around here that need wood... Wait that's good too because I look like some sort of barbecue expert but all I really did was buy an SI!

I've been mentor to a few guys in getting them to start smoking.  Occasionally, they find some wood that is worth trading for, so having a surplus is never a bad thing IMO.

I just got some fresh peach wood from a limb that was pruned off of my tree.  Not sure what it will be like, but I will probably try first on pork or chicken.  Gotta let it season some first, though.

You can find moisture meters, on Amazon, for about $20.  Get one, and let it dry to about 30%, and it will be perfect!  Peach is really good on pork.
