When switched on it begins counting up from around 100 and continues. (It had stopped mid smoke on my last use then started back) What part do I need?

Assuming yiu are talking box temp. Make sure you have time or internal meat temp set properly.

No, the controller itself. It doesn’t light up correctly - all numbers on the left and H on the right.

I am guessing a new controller. based upon what you said about the "lights". Contact Steve. Send an email with pictures of what the controller is doing. Also, since you say it doesn't light up correctly, explain that and how your last smoke went in your email to him. A new controller will be somewhat pricey.
