2015 Model 2 (Analog) - Popping GFCI after a few minutes

I bought my Model 2 in 2015. I haven't used it for a few years and now it's popping the GFCI outlets in my home.
Yes, I tried multiple outlets... turn it on and it's ok for a few minutes. Then it pops when the element gets hot.
From other posts it seems like a lot of people need to replace the heating element, I'm wondering if just removing it, cleaning the terminals and putting on some high-temp insulating washers will do the trick?

It is certainly worth trying. But while you have the element loose, I would put it in your house oven and bake it for 30-40 min. There are posts in some forums that say some elements need to dry out after they haven't been used for awhile when they start tripping the GFCI breakers. Heating them up using a non-gfci circuit sometimes solves the problem. Since you say yours trips after it gets hot, that won't work for you which us why I say try the oven.
