I may not have been clear but the access cover above was riding over the edge of convection flange about 1/8”. Flipped it over and screw holes lined up and cover was sitting flat against back of smoker. You may want to check that.
It looks as if the access cover above convection fan flange was on upside down on mine, allowing the moisture and smoke to shoot under it and into/around the ambient probe. The insulation in there was soaking wet, and my smoker is under a roof and a cover. Luckily it appears the silicone around...
