Digital to digital wifi conversion

Hi smoking it fans! I just did the conversion of my 4d to the new digital wifi controller.
I had no issues connecting to our wifi network and I love the ease of setting up with the app on my iphone.
I have done 1 smoke with 20# of snack sticks. It was a stepped program starting at 110 for drying and then gradually increasing up to 195.
I noted that with every step up it would overshoot the set temp by as much as 20 degrees. I did a test run empty the next day and it did the same.
I figured that since it wasn't installed at the factory, an auto tune was in order.
The best instructions I found were on this forum that called for a stepped program.
30 min @ 140
2 hrs @ 225
1 hr @ 140
I saw that after the 1st step the set time for step 1 was still showing 140. It did not jump to the set temp from step 2. I ended up changing the value for step 1 to 225 and it did start to increase the temp. I saw a video from Eric of 2 guy's and a cooler and he did not use a stepped program, he just set for 225. I did let the auto tune finish but the parameters were pretty far off the original. I decided to run another autotune without the steps. I let the smoker cool down to about 120 and started it up.
This time the numbers were even farther off. I figured that because the smoker was warm and was loaded with warm bricks it through it off.
I am going to let everything cool completely and try again.
I was hoping someone out there could share the numbers that work well for a #4? So far I have recorded the settings so I should be able to get back.
Thanks for any help or advise!

Well I ran the autotune again this am. Started with a cool smoker and bricks, about 62 deg. this morning. Single program, 225 deg.
Not confident in the numbers I'm getting. Started yesterday with what seams to be the default setting. p-60, i-800, d-150. After the firsts try when I manually changed the temp from 140 - 225 because the step up didn't work the numbers were p-339, i-897, d-224. After I let it cool some I got ,
p-15-, i-199, d-49. I tried again with a totally cool smoker this am and got p-15, i-219, d-54. Not sure were to go from here. I guess I should run a program without tune and see what happens.
Thanks for any help or advise.

I'll try that. I never checked the values on my digital controller as it was always spot on.
Thanks for the reply Sarge!

Contacted Steve. He sent me the default values for a model#4 Now it's working correctly.
Don't really understand why the auto tune was so far off.

Auto tune should be done for an emergency. Make sure you record those values for the future. You can go for years without ending to auto tune. I have had my 3D for many years and have never tinkered with th values. Always have a successful smoke.
