Jerk chicken - question re smoking a spice packet

Hey everyone,

I have some spatchcocked chickens in the freezer and with one of them I plan on doing a jerk style rub/marinade (other two I plan on Huli Huli chicken and then Alabama white sauce). I found the jerk recipe on the Thermoworms site and it has you smoking a spice foil packet.  Has anyone done something like this? Im guessing this packet is to help get some of the pimento wood smoke from the all spice berries and herbs.

Just wanted to see if anyone had any experience doing this type of technique in the smokin-it smokers and if it worked ok? Or any tips with a wood chip packet like this?
