Visit a forum and vote!
« on: April 03, 2016, 08:35:49 PM »
Ok, not really promoting another forum BUT someone wants votes on what is best and is looking at the MES and the Bradley.  Time to brag it up:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/244560/vote-for-best-electric-smoker

Talking about the SI smokers here is preaching to the choir. So get out and vote.

Keep up the good work with the voting for Smokin-it over lesser quality smokers.

Good job everyone. It looks like the SI won the poll over there handedly. Hopefully, the user will stop over here and poke around a little bit and find evidence that backs up all of our recommendations. :)

Turned out well. I hit that forum every day/night. There is always someone looking for advice or help and I do what I can regardless of smoker brand.  If I can get people to recognize that there is a very viable and reliable alternative to the MES such as SI so much the better. So thanks for taking the time to join and vote.

For people that all that they can afford is a MES, OK go get it and deal with the issues that require mods to fix. But, heck by the time you by a MES 40 and add all the mods you could have bought a #2/#3 especially if you opt for the base model without the PID. But, to each his own. We can give them the data and they can make the choice that is right for them.

I have ran through a Brinkman bullet, a Big Chief, a side loader stick burner, and a MES and I wish someone would have given me the information to look at the SI (even though they weren't available back then).

The thing going against the premium smokers like Smokin-It and CookShack as that that forum is probably 70% MES and other low quality Big Box Smoker owners (just guessing), so we are a bit outnumbered usually. I have gotten into some heated discussions over there in the past and ruffled some feathers, so while I still read a lot of posts, I don't post very often. It is definitely not the most family friendly over there all the time. There are some mods and veterans that are pretty snippy with newbies over there, which is one thing that just doesn't happen here. On the other hand there are a few that are awesome resources too.

They can get kind of defensive which is understandable which is why I will never condemn a particular smoker. But if an opinion is asked for.....

I've seen that, and is one reason I don't spend a lot of time there.  I just like the camaraderie and attitudes over here so much better!

Agreed. I joined that forum just a shade over 1 year ago and have 9 posts. Most of them in that vote thread today, lol.
