LOL Dave!! I've been there man. You just have to be polite and eat it but you just WANT to say something, it's tough
As a matter of fact, a friend of a friend (who is now my friend as well) kept hearing about the grub I was making from the friend in common. He happens to also host Team Trivia at a little watering hole and I started to attend and play trivia with the mutual friend and got to know him. He fancied himself a pretty good BBQer (as we all do, lol) and he started to size me up by telling me about the stuff he cooks. About 2 minutes into the conversation he starts talking about ribs. I asked him his technique and he said "First I remove the membrane" so we were off to a good start so far right? Then he says "I put them in a pot and boil them for 45 minutes...." I heard all I needed to hear at this point
So, I ended up inviting him and his wife and their 3 kids over for a little get together that I was having. I served Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brisket, ABTs, Potato Salad, Slaw, Baked Beans, Collard Greens, Jalapeno Cheddar Corn Muffins, Homemade Bacon, Brunswick Stew and Mac & Cheese. All made from scratch along with homemade buns! Yeah, you could say I was flexing my muscle here, trying to show off
His wife was making noises like she was
really enjoying it, lol. His kids were hoovering it up at quite an alarming rate, I was amazed that his 3 GIRLS could eat like grown men! He ended up telling me that it was THE BEST BBQ he'd EVER eaten! Wow!! What a compliment!
His kids always ask when they can come over again and are looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday. Makes me feel good, I can't lie
