Extremely dark ribs

Hi all - looking for suggestions to "lighten up" my smoked ribs. I have cooked at 225, using the 3-2-1 timing with a modest amount of hickory and cherry wood. Using Heath Riles rubs (excellent, btw). I did read comments about too much sugar in the rub, but same results with 4 different rubs. Good news is that they taste good, but looking to fine tune. Should I wrap sooner? Use a lower temp? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks all!

I never wrap anything. As a diabetic, I rarely use anything sugar based, either. My favorite blend is salt, onion powder, and garlic powder, and black pepper.

I'm with Larry. No wrapping. I use the same rub mixture and not being diabetic, add brown sugar.
