« on: July 29, 2013, 11:05:30 AM »
Caught my 8 year old smoking  ;)
Have: Tejas stick burner roll top and a Smokin-it #3 w/ Auber

Had: Brinkmann vertical charcoal, wore out; Old Smoky, not to my liking sold; Brinkmann Pro offset, gave to friend;  Sams Club propane smoker, junk, returned to SAMs; 2 Brinkmann vertical electric, wore out.

Ahhhh, memories.  I had a Tejas 1628 until it met an untimely end.  Thin Blue, this picture will definitely give folks the impression that smoking makes you look cool ...  8)

Had to show my Grandson how the "other smoker" works.

Joe, are you close to the Tejas Company?

They're here in Houston so not too terribly far; I think they're near downtown but I've never been there.  I picked mine up at a "divorce sale" for a pittance right after I moved to Houston; they build a very sturdy product (just not hurricane-proof, sadly).  I paid $250, gave it a thorough cleaning, and it smoked like a champ from day one.

And glad to see you're making good use of those rib tips from butchering your spares.  Nothing like a little snack while waiting for the ribs to finish their smoke ...  :)

Yep, I don't throw much away. Love those snack sizes.

1628 is a nice set up. Looks like the 2430 has gone up over 45% since I bought mine.

The Tejas is a solid SB, for sure!  I have a buddy who's lived and died by his for years.  Funny how our faith gets shaken at times....he's seriously considering ordering a #3!  lol  Don't know if he'll ever pull the trigger, but at least I have him thinking pretty hard!

Love the convenience of the #3, but sometimes I have to go hard core.  :)

Another pic of ribs cooked on Tejas.

This was a three pack of spares from Sam's Club, my favorite hangout.  :)

Those look awesome, Thin!  I'm with ya', bro - Sam's Club has the best meat in my area!  Just as good as any of the butchers, and a whole lot cheaper!  You can bet if I'm grilling or smoking it, it came from Sam's.
