Smoker
« on: September 20, 2017, 07:39:09 PM »
I am looking for a smoker that someone may be looking to upgrade. I am hoping for a #3 or so. If you are considering upgrading but want to get rid of what you have first let me know. Lets see if we can make a deal.

Hello. Did you ever find a smoker? I have a 2D that I bought in late 2017. I have used it a half dozen times. I was diagnosed with Alpha-Gal syndrome. Allergy to red meat caused by a tick bite. I will never eat meat again so I have decided to sell this smoker.

Wow... major bummer!  Can you not eat 'white' meat?

I didn't know what Alpha-Gal was so I looked it up:
Galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal) is a carbohydrate found in the cells of many mammals that humans eat, such as cows, sheep, and pigs. Poultry that has been injected with natural flavoring containing beef or other mammal cells may also have alpha-gal. As a result of autoimmune responses, some people become allergic to alpha-gal.

I live in fear of getting bitten by a tick that passes that to me, and I live in tick country. But I thought that even if you did develop the allergy, you could still eat chicken, turkey, and fish. I suppose you would have to be sure that there were no additives from mammals, though, so go organic and read ingredient lists carefully.
