Can I wrap wood chips or pellets in foil pouch with holes in it, and place in wood box?

i have never tried that with chips... maybe soak them first for a short period of time... others on this forum may be better at helping you with this question..

Welcome Doogie.  I personally stay away from chips.  I find them too fast-burning, even if soaked.  Others swear by them, but I prefer chunk wood.  It smoulders much better (instead of "burn"), and produces a better quality smoke.  Just make sure to get a good quality wood from a supplier like Fruitawood; stay away from the hardware store bags (usually way to dry).

Chunks for me too.  Never tried chips but I think they would burn too quickly.  If I did use them, I would certainly wrap them in foil.  But I will stay with chunks.

I would stay away from chips. Try the chunks they smoke much better. I recommend fruitawood for chunks. Good quality wood.
