Started the seasoning an hour ago and just noticed these red looking droplets of fluid on top of smoker. Is this normal and will this also happen during regular smoking ? Just wanting to know what to expect in the future for what will be normal use and what should be a red flag of me doing something wrong.

It is from the smoke; condensation. Wipe off and enjoy. Your interior will also develop a nice patina from this also. It is more noticeable in cold weather, not so much when warm or hot outside.

If it isn't raining, you could leave the hat off. Pretty sure you won't see the drops then.

I like the hat, but like you, had the same type of smoke residue left behind after using it the first few times. I no longer use that, although I do like the look of it.

Thanks. Yep, it wiped right off and when I opened door it looked the same inside. I did do a quick hamburger smoke right after and when I went to put foil down on the bottom it was very sticky. I was worried foil would get stuck. After my failed attempt at my first smoke Ever 🤪 some of it did stick but came up with putty knife and a wipe down. I used 3oz of wood for 3 Pattie’s and the taste was strong and bitter. Waiting on my wood order to come in and just used some applewood that I’ve had for over a year from the box store. Never again. Although I did go into this knowing that I would have a learning curve.

When I was putting it together I just put it on because of course being a women, it was just too stinking cute 😆 but I think I will put it up with my Bella and just bring it out when the weather looks iffy. While the first smoke was an epic fail I did actually enjoy the fact that my #2 ran great. No belching and beautiful smoke. Wood looked like charcoal at the end. And I perfected the use of the Auber. It ran like a charm. Stayed within 1 to 2 degrees of the 225 target. I did take note that a few times when I didn’t see temp moving I closed out the app then opened it back up to find that it must have frozen because temp was higher. So that’s good to know when I’m dealing with 💰 meat.
Thanks for the help guys

Every smoke is an adventure and learning experience. Enjoy!

I have the hat on my 3DW and it gets the condensation droplets especially when it’s cold outside. Since it wipes right off I just leave it on all the time. Welcome to the forum.

When I make jerky, I get the same thing. I just tear a 1 inch round hole in the center of a paper towel and out that under my jerky dryer fan housing.

Dave! I figured out why you need the paper towel!! Your smoker is upside down ;D
