Title: Auto tune question
Post by: johns6 on January 30, 2019, 10:07:18 AM
Sorry if this has been asked before. After I do an auto tune, the instructions say to go back and write down the the new PID values. I understand how to get to view the values, but instructions don't say what to do next after writing values down. Do I need to keep pressing set to get out of the program? Also, is autotune only needed if you are running time and temp programs. What if I only cook by temp, say for instance I set probe 1 to 225 and probe 2 to 195 and all other values to 0. Is auto tuning needed?

I would start with a dummy load of damp sand (mimicking a meat load like a butt or brisket) in the smoker and with a good, calibrated remote therm fire up the smoker and see if the Auber and remote match or come close to matching. If an auto-tune is necessary, follow the instructions that came with the Auber as well as what is available on the forum:
