Red Cedar #3 Cart
« on: July 19, 2015, 02:06:16 PM »
Decided to raise the #3 up 3' to make getting in and out of it a standing position.
Used red cedar so it would weather well without a finish.

Attached the casters that came with the #3 with some t-nuts, and attached the SI3 with 90mm long bolts; M12x1.75 threads on both.

24" full extension drawer slides hold 100lbs and should make (un)loading a breeze.  the drawer may double as an auber operating location if temps are unaffected by the heat above.   I'll take some measurements.
Hooks on the back to get the auber out of the way for any reason.

Thought I'd share in case anyone was thinking about something similar.
Enjoy.

Solid plan and turned out well. I was wondering as to why guys weren't building their own carts out of treated 2x6 or 5/4 treated decking material. You could easily add fold up/down side wings.

Great guide to start with but was thinking of using left over 6x6 posts where you used the 2x4's to maybe give mine a timber frame look.

Thanks again for posting this up

Thanks for the kind words.

I was planning on fold down side shelves, but I want to see if it works out as is.
Not so much a minimalist, as much as I am trying to keep the footprint down.
The SI3 lives in the garage and I have a few tools on wheels that get shuffled around.

The base looks like it needs to be wider or it maybe be able to be knocked over easily?

I love its parking place in the driveway so that neighbors can use it as needed.  ;D ;D ;D

The casters are directly under the legs, so it kept the same width/depth as before the stand.
A bigger base is certainly more stable and makes side shelves easy, but the goal was to minimize the footprint.
It's a little sketchy rolling around in the sand, but it was only out there because the pics in the garage didn't have enough light.
On concrete it's plenty stable.
