Larger wheels for a 3D...
« on: March 05, 2017, 09:40:11 AM »
Hello all. I'm curious to know if anybody has modified their Smokin-it smokers with larger (possibly inflatable) tires for easier transport over grass or gravel surfaces? I have a loose idea of replacing minimally the 2 rear wheels of my 3D with inflateable tires and mounting an extended handle on the back of the unit to create a hand truck type of feel. I may need to replace all 4 to keep things level. I have a detached garage and a stone driveway, and the a cross the lawn to my favorite grilling and smoking spot. This obviously isn't a great scenario when I have to roll this sucker out for summer festivities.

If anybody has done this or some other sweet transport mods I would love to see or hear about them.

Something like this might work for you.  Just bolt it down to the expanded metal bed and you should be good to go.  Mounting the smoker with the back facing the handle will keep access to the front unimpeded.

Thanks Sarge...I like the way you think! I have a tendency to step over simplicity to jump for complexity! Haha!

With the right size cart, you could have a small box, like a milk crate, mounted on it that carries wood, non-stick spray, tongs, foil, etc.

That is the coolest thing! You could take the smoker anywhere with that garden wagon!
