Probe cover for "D" Models
« on: February 29, 2016, 08:01:58 PM »
Since I'm not lucky enough to have a covered patio, my 3D sits on the back deck with the Smokin-It cover installed.
Knowing that I need to keep dust and moisture out of the Auber's meat probe opening, I ordered a couple of different items from Allied Electronics to see what would work the best.

JACK COVER; BRIGHT NICKEL                                   $6.94 each

1/4" WEATHER TIGHT CAP                                        $1.26 each

Shipping for both items from their Ft. Worth location to Tulsa, OK was $5.65 and took 3 business days to arrive.

I received them today and was really wanting to use the spring loaded "Jack Cover" but once it was tightened onto the probe opening, the jack cover wouldn't close completely. FAIL!!

I then installed the "Weather Tight Cap" and it works great. It's all rubber and the plug and is secure & tight in the probe opening.

For just a few dollars, this will be a great way to ensure that your probe opening is kept clean, dry and corrosion free.

Neat idea, the SI's should almost come with them? top too?

But I'd suspect the warning sticker to remove before cook would cost more than the plug!@

Both of the covers he showed are for the 1/4" meat probe plug (I believe), not the blow hole.  Steve has a bunch of similar covers coming, and will be standard in the future.

Yes, that is the 1/4 meat probe plug on the side of the controller. Not sure why all my pics are upside down. They were right side up when I uploaded them.
