To boil or not to boil?
« on: December 03, 2018, 08:51:55 AM »
The Internet recipes seem equally divided on boiling and not boiling brine. I have not tried not boiling yet and wanted to see if any has. I know sugar dissolves just fine in Kool-aid without boiling seems like the same logic would be involved with brine.

Brian:

I never get my brine to a full boil. I heat it long enough to dissolve the sugar, salt and any other spices that I put into it.

You don't have to heat the brine at all, to my knowledge.  I do sometimes if I put some other spices and seasonings in the brine that would benefit from being heated.  Even then, there's no particular reason to take it to a boil.
