Title: The eagle has landed!!!
Post by: lcdearman on August 13, 2020, 01:04:11 PM
Wow, quick shipping! As everybody says, it was well packed and no damage whatsoever. Thanks for the note Steve! I got the wheels and cord hooks on, hope to get a chance to season it tomorrow morning. As hot as it is here in Texas, I am not sure I even have to turn it on.

The seasoning is done. Got quite a bit of smoke starting at the 10-15 minute mark. It was done smoking (that I could see) between 1 1/2 and 2 hours. Wood was ash, much of it blew away before I could take a picture. I didn't sit with it so I don't know if I got any burps. Here are the pics, do I need to clean any of that residue up? Anyway, I think it went well, ready to do a porK butt now, probably sometime next week.

Looks like you are off and running, Clay!   Now you just need to get some meat in there and let the SI do its magic!  Cheers

You are ready to go! No need to clean.

Just use foil on the bottom and on the top of the lid for the smoke box, that will make clean up easier when you use it. The only cleaning i do is to pull the used foil and then wipe down the bottom and smoke box with paper towels.

Oh, and don’t forget to poke a hole in the foil where the drain hole is on the bottom as well.

Have fun!
