PID with extension cord
« on: July 13, 2020, 03:37:22 PM »
I have a converted #3 with a pid.  I was wondering would I lost anything using an extension cord for the auber? The reason I ask is the summer in NJ has been unpredictable and weather can pop up at anytime. I want to keep the smoker in the garage, well ventilated of course.

YMMV
I see guys using them with no problem but for some reason it didn't work for me. You could try it and see.
After setting up my Auber, on the 1st cook the temp only ran up to 215* or so and wouldn't go any higher. Switched to the analog controller and it would only go as high as 236*. Finally removed the extension cord and everything worked as it should. I haven't tried another cord as I really don't need one anyway but its a good quality heavy duty jobbers type cord and has tested out OK and works fine with my power tools so I don't know what the problem was.
