My smoker
« on: February 16, 2013, 02:11:09 AM »
I have a Cookshack smoker.  Good smoker. Very expensive but I bought it used. I bought a Model 3 to give as a gift last year, and having seen it, looked under the hood, kicked the tires, etc.  have come to the conclusion that it is every bit as good  as the Cookshack, and better in some areas for a fraction of the cost. In fact, I have been recommending the Smokin-it line quite heavily over on another site.  When my son's house is completed, he is getting a Smokin-it!

Sarge was a direct influence on my decision to go with the Smokin-It line vs other choices available and I am thankful for his honest input and my decision to get a #3 vs the new generation MES I was considering. The Smokin-It rocks IMHO!!

I did a metric crap ton of research before settling in on the Smokin-It.  Initially I was planning to get a Cookshack but the deeper I dug, the less it seemed to worth the premium vs the Smokin-It.  I'm glad to see from a Cookshack owner that the two are fairly comparable.  If I had the cash for the top of line models, then the Cookshack might be worth it since it has a more advanced thermostat and can be set to cook to an internal temp.  But for the money I feel my #3 was a screaming bargain.
