I haven't, but I bet some others have...  if anything, I've considered converting my 3DW to a #3.

Here is a series of posts that should help immensely.  If you go to the home page, look for Auber Instructions which is where I pulled this from.  A lot of. folks installed a permanent probe and bypassed the analog controller and wired in a stand alone Auber.  Good luck!

Like Larry, I was searching to see if anyone converted a 3D or 3DW to an analog #3.

I would only consider this change if the digital control fails.  My main concern would be a potential loss of the max heat of 325F on the 3D down to 250 as on the analog #3.

I would imagine the switch out would be simple enough.  Replacement parts for the analog are available. May have to do some drilling and patching/pluging the digital controller mounting holes. As an alternative, if you are adventurous and not opposed to replacing all the wiring, here are two industrial links that may be of help that cover elements and controls. Pf course, your warranty will be void but you might be able to get a higher temperature.  Enjoy!

Yes, the higher temp is one of the few things I appreciate about the D / DW models.  The digital instructions are very emphatic about not going above 325.  I suspect the 250 limit on the analogs is to allow lots of margin for their temperature swings.
