New model #2 getting Seasoned!
« on: January 10, 2015, 08:20:00 AM »
The brown truck paid me a visit late yesterday and dropped off our new smoker from smokin-it
The model 2 is getting cured as I write this. I have pics but they won't post because they are too big. I need some tips on how to add photos that are taken with a iPad...  :-\

You CURE meat, smokers are SEASONED like a cast iron skillet.

My cheat for pictures will work if you have a computer other than the ipad. I take pictures with my iphone then email them to my lap top as a "medium" size image. Drag the pic out of the email to the desktop and upload it from there.

There may be an easier way but this works for me.

I have an android tablet that I use for posting.  Take picture (a little bigger than needed), crop to reduce size down to only what is necessary & save.  It attaches fine after that.  If not, you didn't crop it down enough.  No need for sending to another computer.  This method does not work on my android phone.  Might not work for Apple but posted for people who may use an android tablet.  Mine is a Samsung 10" about 3 years old.

Thanks Walt,
I'll give that a try. I don't recall having a problem before but I think that I was using a different phone..

"You CURE meat, smokers are SEASONED like a cast iron skillet."

Noted and corrected, thanks again Brian.. :-[

Edit: My curiosity got the better of me so I decided to Google: "season or cure a new smoker" - I got mixed results although it appears both terms are used.

Off to the races, Ralph!!  Congrats!!  Looks like a wonderful "first victim" for the new #2!  What a great price, too...I'll take 100 pounds at that price, please! ;)

Yes Winn-Dixie had quite a sale but limited each customer to two butts. I will be watching their sale flyers for future bargains.
The ten pounder will be smoking overnight.  Luvin lazy Q   ;)

Great find there Ralph! I wish I could find some meat near those prices around my neck of the woods. I'd probably stock up quite a bit 3-4 of the ones you got there. Or, we all just need to take a trip to Tony's and help him knock away some of the 100 pounds he'd like to get.

When the stores have a good deal but set limits I take the whole family shopping. We all buy the limit and stock up the freezer.

Since I downsized to a condo storage is limited even in the freezer department. My compact freezer won't hold a lot of 10 pound butts alongside of turkey, ribs, and other various foods.
I wish I had two more now.  :'(
