I bought my Genesis 1100 at Home Depot, because it was the only place I found one with the porcelin coated cast iron grates.  Of course, that was 19 years ago! :o

I can't believe that I found something to disagree with Divot on, but I'll pass on the porcelain grates. I love the high quality thick steel grates that I got with my Genesis.

Ford or chevy....

+1!  And, by the way, my 2000 Silverado just turned 300,000 miles! ;)

sear station is nice.

Ace use to have a version they sold that came with the SS grates that you could only get from them.  You might want to see if they still have that version.

Now that I'm getting into the whole Sous Vide thing, I'm longing for a sear station! :o   My old Genesis 1100 may be departing sooner than it wants to. :(

Sear station and side burner are worth the extra cost. This is a grill that (if cared for) will last decades.

Not sure on the difference or model cost (weber), but can't you just high broil stuff in the oven and get the same result?   You can prob make a non weld "waffle" grate if you want the sexy food look.

Sear vs Broil

Sure!  It's how I sear things like prime rib!  But, the difference is taste.  A well-used grill is going to impart flavor to the meat that you can't get in the oven.  That combination of grease hitting the flame, and old BBQ residue, makes for some fine finishing flavor on any meat!
