Hello from NW Georgia.   Wanted to get your input (help) regarding smoking a deer roast (it has been some time since this topic has been discussed).   Please know that I'm only experienced in smoking pork butts, so any recommendations or tips for this venison is greatly appreciated.

Also, I've been using DivotMaker's brine recipe for the pork butts since I got my smoker and it makes all the difference in the taste and quality of the pork.   Would that brine recipe work for a deer roast?

Lastly, I always use beer as my liquid during pork butt smokes.   It that a good choice for venison, or do you prefer something else?
