Did my first smoke today on a leg of lamb, came out really nice. I am not loving the digital interface though, it seems pretty clunky with several pages of instructions to set up a step staged smoke sessions. Anyone know if I can exchange the controller for the wifi model to pay the difference? I should have spent the money upfront.

It is definitely easier to set up a stepped smoke on the app than it is using the controller. I have not swapped out a controller but the instructions look pretty simple if you have some DIY knowledge. It appears to be plug and play. There are some wi-fi routers that are not compatible with it but they are listed in the wi-fi user manual. I believe the instructions are on the SI website under “For the customer” then click on instructions and info. Good luck!

To the best of my knowledge Steve does not offer new controllers, D or WiFi for sale.

The step cook control isn’t bad. I know it seems like it’s running through a bunch of different screens, but it’s actually not bad. I know I don’t use the functionality of the digital like I could, but I have it set for what I like and that’s it. So I’ve kept it simple.
But, are you wanting a time step or a internal temp step process?

The Digital and the Wi-Fi Controllers are currently for sale on the SI website listed under smoker parts. The installation instructions are under, For the Customer. They are listed as replacement controllers but the Wi-Fi controller is plug and play and interchangeable when replacing a Digital controller.

I reckon I need to stay more up to date.
