Jeff's Rub & Sauce
« on: May 15, 2013, 06:01:37 AM »
Has anyone purchased the recipes from Jeff, the creator of the smoking meat web site?

Sounds interesting and the recipes have a lot of great reviews.

Thoughts?

I ended up buying the recipe for the rub and the bbq sauce. I made a batch of the rub and it was outstanding worth the cost. I would highly recommend it. For 18.95, you get the two recipes and a smoking course. You can find this at www.smokingmeat.com

i think most of you are on the smokingmeat forums as well.

btw, i bought jeff's book. A very good read.

Great catch, I guess I should have used the preview button. Have you tried the rub? Its good on any meat or poultry. Have not tried on fish yet.

Is there a Non-Disclosure Agreement= that everyone signs? I'm wondering why nobody has posted a copy of the recipe.

It's more like an agreement, Brian.  Jeff sells his recipe, and asks that buyers respect his business by not giving it away.  I purchased it, and have no problem not posting it.  I don't sell any of my recipes, so I post them for everyone.  If my business was to sell recipes, I wouldn't want people giving them away, for free, either I guess.  I think it was $18.  It's quite good, but there are several on here that are just as good.  One thing he does, is send a bunch of extra material and updates to recipes, so it's kind of a "lifetime subscription" thing.

That is what I assumed, after wearing out Google looking for it. I am also at a loss on finding a copy-cat recipe for McCormicks Broiled Steak Seasoning. I can find lots of listings for Outback steak seasoning or McCormicks Montreal Steak Seasoning. If anyone has a seasoning blend close to the Broiled Steak I'd love to have it. If you have never tasted it, it is Like a course Lowreys Season Salt with a pepper blend and a large portion of tasty stuff I cant figure out. It's excellent on beef.

I too liked Jeff's recipes. I personally think the cost it worth it. After all, he is hosting a website with over 1 million posts. I will say this, I thought Aldi's ketchup works better than Heinz. Just my 2 cents worth.

Have you used his rub and Meathead's Memphis Dust? How does one compare to the other, if so? Of course, I'm tempted to buy the recipe just as a thank-you for the mac-and-cheese recipe I found on his site.  :D

Worth the $.  I use his recipes as just one more weapon in the arsenal! ;)

The 18.95 is worth it. Jeffs bbq sauce is really good.  You get the rub and bbq sauce recipe.

I frequently use jeffs ideas for smoking poultry.

I purchased the rub recipe and use it on everything that I smoke.  I have even used the rub on other meats that I throw on the Weber grill.   I use the sauce recipe on occasion, but more often that not, I just go for Sweet Baby Rays.

Very good rub. Been using it for years on meat and poultry. Worth the money not only for the rub and sauce recipes, but to also keep the excellent site alive. I even use it in my eggs.
