Portuguese Sausage
« on: August 18, 2019, 11:47:03 AM »
I found a new sausage at Costco labeled Portuguese Sausage.  Its from a company in Honolulu.  Each sausage is 10oz, uncooked and labeled mild. They come 4 individually wrapped for $7.99.  The mild seasoning accepted the smoke in a very nice way.  Each sausage was enough for two people as they're rich. I set my model 1 at 200 degrees with about 2oz of hickory for about 1 1/2 hour.  IT at 160 and it was time to eat.  Great leftovers after lightly warming in the microwave too.  An added bonus is lower than normal sodium, 410mg per serving.

I love Portuguese sausage.  I have tried making my own blend, but haven't had really great success, I just by a spice blend from Noh's now.

My wife grew up on that and Spam in Hawaii. Portuguese sausage with rice and scrambled eggs with chopped tomatoes. Great breakfast.
