Original #1 - Cart
« on: December 18, 2017, 01:56:14 PM »
The buddy that pointed me to Smokin-It in the first place has a very old #1...  I know that these have undergone some revisions over time.  Will the cart currently sold for the #1 work with what might be an original #1?

Changes that I'm aware of are things like handles and a bigger heating element.  Nothing to do with footprint of the smoker.

Good to know the outside dimensions haven't changed.

I was thinking that the #1 didn't use to have wheels and therefore wouldn't have the threading to mount it to the stand...  any idea on this?

No worries, worse case a little L bracket to the leg and cart top will achieve the same result.

My #1 is from Jan 2015, far from the original. I don't think much has changed though from the original. I think they always had wheels, but the wheels have gotten larger, handles added, and heating element improved. Other than that, I'm pretty sure they are the same. You can contact Steve at Smokin-it.com to see if there might be any issues with the current cart not fitting the most ancient of all #1's, but I doubt if there is a problem.

A quick trip down memory lane via the Wayback Machine (thank you Mr. Peabody and Sherman) to 16 OCT 2009 shows that the SI Model 1 did indeed have wheels.  Here is a link:

Good call... I've used them for other lookups in the past and didn't even think of it in this case.
