moldy wood

Have had a lot of rain and high humidity recently. I keep several species of smoking chunks in an enclosed cabinet outside but under a roof. most of the chunks have got mold on them, especially the pecan. Can I use? clean? throw em out? I'm guessing smoking mold will not make for good eats.

Personally, I would just toss it and get some without mold. I am not aware of any ill effects but from another forum I belong to, the general consensus is toss it and avoid the risk of illness.
