Title: Cabinet Temperature Probe Placement - does it have to be centered?
Post by: RalphM on May 09, 2022, 01:57:01 PM
I have a 2D analog to which I added the Auber controller.  I really like the setup!
A problem I have is when trying to smoke two large (12 pound) pork butts.  Keeping the lower rack high enough that it does not get overcooked means that the upper rack gets interference from the box mounted temperature probe.  I placed the probe where recommended, but if it were moved closer to a corner, it would avoid getting touched by the upper pork butt.

Any problems with moving closer to a corner?

Thanks,
Ralph

Ralph - Have you thought about mounting it parallel and centered to the back wall? Otherwise, I guess you will just have to experiment.

Have not thought about that, would require a right angle bracket, but would shorten the extension into the box by a couple of inches.

Look at your kitchen oven and see how it is placed.  It may run parallel to a back or side wall, high up or low down.  It may even be pinned to the top/ceiling!
