Smoked Grouper, Mahi Mahi, Halibut
« on: April 03, 2015, 05:58:58 PM »
I know we have some Florida folks here, has anyone smoked fresh Florida Grouper or Mahi Mahi?

How about some Halibut from Alaska?

Other mild fishes that can be smoked.

Thanks in advance

Greg

Greg, I am about to try smoking some mahi (dorado, dolphin fish) in the next few days and also some Swai ( a Vietnamese farmed white fish) in the next few days. I'll post with the results.  So far I have only smoked Spanish mackerel, an oily local fish, and they turned out great for fish dip.
Roger from the Florida Keys.
Two SI#3s, both with switched bypass and Aubers(different locations), Viking, Jenn Aire & five TEC infra red grills. Recently acquired UDS.

Roger,

Yes please post and let me know how it turns out, I have only smoked salmon in the past.

Also, I don't like salmon, just do it for my friends, bit fishy for me!

I also have some trigger fish and hog fish in the freezer, that I would love to try out also in the smoker!
