Title: additional uses for leftover brine?
Post by: smokingstateofmind on July 31, 2022, 06:03:27 PM
Hello. Have had my model 1 for nearly a year and can't say enough about its performance. I smoke regularly what I consider the trinity of BBQ - ribs, brisket/burnt ends and pulled pork. Tony Langley's tips and recipes have been spot on. My friends and family say it's the best BBQ they've ever had. I tell them it's nothing to do with me but the model 1's construction and Tony's guidance as well as input from the forum. So a big thanks! I need to broaden out to different smokes, but I keep coming back to the pulled pork. I now always brine for 12-14 hours before smoking like Tony suggests - can't imagine not doing that ever. I just wonder if I can use the brine more than once, or maybe reheat the mix after brining the pork butt for use as an injection. I hate to waste a great solution if it can be used again for something else involving a future smoke. I appreciate any thoughts. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum Matt.  As for reusing the brine, I would just toss it.  See this link:

Thank you for this David. I won't tempt fate. Fresh batch every time.
