Title: Rough Day
Post by: old sarge on January 31, 2022, 07:58:51 PM
5:15 alarm goes off.  Hit snooze.  5:30 get up start coffee, stumble around house. Unlock patio door for my usual morning prayer outside and first cup of coffee.. Place right foot into slipper and get nailed by a scorpion.  Pain was immediate and intense.  It still hurts 12 hours later with a lot of tingling, both feet, right leg, both hands. Good news is I killed the scorpion.

Ouch!!
Do you need a blacklight flashlight to look for them at night?

Have had one for years and use it fairly regularly.  Never though to illuminate the inside of my slippers.

Thanks Larry.  Slow going. Still plenty painful.

Hurt doesn't begin to describe what I felt in the first couple of seconds. Like liquid fire. Even now there is severe but diminished pain, and if I move around the house, my fingers tingle and they are pretty distant from my toes.  Really wicked venom.

Ouch! I've seen plenty here in Texas but never been stung by one. I hope today is a better day...

I was playing golf in Texas and I reached into the cup to pick up my ball. Immediately my hand was swarmed with fire ants. That was bad enough. I can’t imagine how bad a scorpion sting must be. Get well soon.

Thanks Paul.  New day and feeling so much better.  The initial site/toe feels like a bee sting this morning which is to say nothing to whine and cry about.  There is numbness across several toes but otherwise I feel really good.

Man, that's just wrong first thing in the morning.

Sorry to hear.

Hope the foot feels better.

Doing well Travis.  Toe is sore but otherwise feeling much better.  Bad way to start a week, that's for sure.

Thanks Doug. I've started being a tad more cautious as well. Black light  causes scorpions to glow so much better to find them than the other way around.  Come warmer weather, the snakes and tarantulas will start to make their appearance, sometimes on my patio right next to my chair. Keeps me young!

Yep, that's a good bit nastier than the little guys we see in North Georgia and South Carolina! Glad you're on the mend! Despite their unpleasant interactions, they sure are interesting creatures.
